Autologous Conditioned Serum

MediVet’s Autologous Conditioned Serum (ACS) contains anti-degenerative compounds which blocks the inflammatory mediator from binding to its receptor and triggering an inflammatory response that leads to tissue destruction. The purpose of ACS is intended to decrease inflammation in horses. MediVet ACS is a yellow to amber colored liquid derived from the blood of the animal to be treated, making the treatment completely autologous.

What Makes MediVet’s ACS Process Stand Out?

MediVet America enhanced the traditional IRAP product by partnering it with our patented photo biostimulation technology which utilizes low-level light of specific wavelengths to induce release of anti-inflammatory cytokines and inhibit pro inflammatory cytokines from white blood cells present in whole blood samples. MediVet Labs uses five different wavelengths of this cutting edge technology to modulate the pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine release from the white cells.

What are the indications for use of ACS?

Early arthritis, synovitis, capsulitis, and generalized joint inflammation not responding to traditional NSAID. A variety of soft tissue inflammation sites have been treated with ACS. In addition to direct-site usage, intravenous administration of MediVet ACS is used to increase the circulation of the important regenerative compounds in the body of the animal on a routine basis during racing and training.

How is the sample collected and shipped?

Your veterinarian will collect approximately 400 milliliters of blood, under strict aseptic conditions, in the MediVet ACS Blood Collection bag provided and shipped overnight to our lab. Medivet processes the blood and typically ships the syringes the next day after receipt of the blood, making the total time from collection to injection 72 hours.

ACS Guidelines & Recommendations

Intra-articular Injection Protocol: Your Veterinarian will administer one injection per site once to twice weekly for 3 to 4 weeks; then as necessary for maintenance.

Intravenous Injection Protocol: For horses in training it is recommended that intravenous injections be given at 5mls administered 2-3 times per week, with the last dose of the week being administered as close as permitted prior to competition.
